Psalms 62:1-2

(NKJV); “v1 Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. v2 He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.”

(NIV): “v1 Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. V2 Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.”

(CEV): “v1 Only God can save me, and I calmly wait for him. v2 God alone is the mighty rock that keeps me safe and the fortress where I am secure.”

God Did Not Create us to depend on a bunch of people, the government, etc – but He Wants us to depend on Him. David had Intimacy with God, so he could say in v2 that “He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved”.

Like so many of David’s psalms, the clarion call of this canticle is that “God alone is The Source and Sphere of David’s need…for God alone Has The Right to Demand our own undivided trust and worship…for God alone is our Salvation and Strength…He alone is our Rock of Defense… our Shepherd and King; our Lord and our Life – our Way, our End and our God.”

And so despite the difficulties and dangers that encompassed king David and in spite of the enemies that would seek his life to destroy him, David…the man after God’s own heart waited in silence for God – for he knew that in quietness and in confidence is our strength, for Salvation is from the Lord and He alone is the one upon whom we must depend.

Life is full of troubles and opposition. No one can boast of having the well wishes of everyone around him. Sometimes we find ourselves being vulnerable to the dangerous schemes of people we consider to be loved ones.

Sometimes, those who appear to be our greatest loyalists tend to be the strongest enemies within. Nowadays, it has become difficult to have a trustworthy person for a friend especially in moments of despair. Through all the scenes of life, God is The only Trusted Source of Refuge and Deliverance.

King David survived seemingly insurmountable opposition. He faced opposition from his own family, from his superiors and even his followers. However, his secret was that he looked up to God alone as his Source of Security. Beloved, do not be surprised when you face opposition in life. There will be times that you have enemies simply because God Will be Blessing you.

Precious ones; irrespective of the pressing challenges you may be facing now, keep waiting and trusting in The LORD your God. To those who trust Him, He Acts as A Strong Refuge, Protector and Deliverer to you. Men may consider you to be weak and vulnerable but what they are ignorant of will be The Truth that The King of Kings, Lord of Host and The Almighty is your Security. No body or thing can dare break through The Security System of God.

I want to encourage you today: It will be well with you. You may be battling with a lot of things that seem to threaten your very life. This is the time you have to lift your eyes and voice to Heaven and say to The LORD, ‘You alone are my Protector and Deliverer’. God alone is our Surest Source of Security.

What a testimony of David’s dependence on the Lord. David in the midst of profound difficulty and distress waited in quiet confidence, on The Lord his God.

May our soul also wait in silence for God – for from Him alone is our Salvation.

Heavenly Father,
You are my surest Deliverance. Please Continue to Protect my family and loved ones. We are safe in You alone.
in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
