CAN YOU BE CORRECTED?

‘David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.”‘ 2 Samuel 12:13 NKJV

‘There are many plans in a man’s heart, Nevertheless the Lord’s counsel—that will stand’ Prov  19: 21 NKJV

When injustice  is not corrected people think that it’s okay to mistreat people (Eccl  8; 11), so God Sent the Prophet Nathan to confront King David over his affair with Bathsheba. As king, David had the power to have Nathan put to death. But he didn’t. He humbled himself, received correction, repented, and was Restored to his throne and God’s Favour. When you bring correction to somebody who is  in error, speak The Truth to him/her but do it with love (just as prophet did).

Is there  any problem in you in your life, deal with the it: Go to God in prayer and inro the Word and find out where you missed it and get the problem corrected. Can you be corrected? If you can, your future is bright, and your potential is great. But you must be discerning. Not all correction is constructive and therefore does not have to be accepted. Someone may desire to tear you down, diminish your self-esteem or manipulate you into accepting their way of thinking.

God Gives the choice of sin/life. He even Gave Cain the chance to repent… Unrepentant sin leads to unforgiving sin, so when we are err then we must correct: How we react to God’s correction will determine the fate of our future. We have to be willing to receive correction – it not about what you want or how you feel, it’s all about What The Word of God Says. ‘Live according to the Word, but do not change the Word of God to suit how you live your life.’

Make it a habit to analyse the motives of the person who is correcting you. Ask yourself these questions:

(1) In the past, has this person shown a genuine concern for my personal well-being and development?

(2) What does he or she gain personally if I accomplish the behavior they are recommending? What do I gain? What do I lose?

(3) Is their attitude one of kindness, or am I feeling attacked and demeaned? (Be careful; don’t confuse a person’s irritation over your behavior as a personal attack.)

(4) After they criticise me, do I feel like a hopeless failure, or do they communicate faith in my capacity to change?

(5) Are they dedicated to sticking with me through the change? The Bible says, ‘Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful’ (Proverbs 27:6 NKJV).

God Knows how to Correct people, eg: the Goodness of God Corrected Peter by Giving him s net-breaking catch. We should learn to receive correction graciously because most of the time we don’t see things in our life like what other people see, our heart might be right but might be coming across very wrongly and that even may be damaging our witness to somebody else.

Since God Loves you enough to send people into your life to correct you, receive them because they have your best interests at heart. AMENWhatsApp Image 2018-11-03 at 21.06.15
