BE CONSCIOUS OF THE MEDITATIONS OF YOUR HEART

(NKJV) Ps 19:14 “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.”

(CEV) Psalms 19:14 “Let my words and my thoughts be pleasing to you, Lord, because you are my mighty rock and my protector.”

God Patiently Waits for us to turn to Him in matters so that he can Give us the keys to victory Provided by the Resurrection Power of Christ.  This is what the Psalmist meant as he prayed to God in humility to examine his heart so that he might only speak life and not death to those around him.

It is a basic principle of life that what is invisible usually gives birth to and controls what is visible. Whatever a man will do was first meditated upon in his heart and mind before putting it into action. Your actions and inaction in life are products of the meditations of your heart.

To meditate is to ponder over a thought or information over and over until a deeper understanding and definite decision is arrived at. If you find yourself continuously doing what is sinful, it is because you have been meditating on sinful thoughts. If you find yourself living in holiness, it means that the meditation of your heart has been on Holy thoughts.

A heart that meditates on the Glory of the Lord and lifts up the Person of the Lord Jesus, is the one that exhibits an inner Grace and beauty, for such a one is willingly being transformed into the Likeness of the Christ, for out of the mouth come thoughts that are conceived in the heart.

That is why David expressed that, “let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in your sight, o Lord…”.  By implication, our thoughts and the meditations of our hearts lie bare before God’s Sight. God Watches what goes on in a man’s heart; whether it is acceptable or not.

What do you usually meditate on nowadays? Do you meditate on the nudity of the opposite sex? Do you meditate on possible evil ways to amass wealth? Do you meditate on causing harm to a fellow human being? All such meditations of the heart are certainly unacceptable in God’s Sight.

May we, like David, in humility of heart, sanctify the words of our mouth, the meditation of our heart, the thoughts of our minds, and the motives of our inner being so that all we say and all we do, will be pleasing and acceptable in the sight of our precious Lord and Savior.

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” (Philippians 4:8)

If truly you have accepted our Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord, then you need to be conscious of the meditations of your heart.

Prayer

My Lord and my God, thank You for today’s word. Please help me to only meditate on things that will be pleasing to You, that my life may be pleasing to You as well. In Jesus’ name,

 Amen.
