(NKJV) Colossians 2:6-7 = “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him…Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
(CEV) Colossians 2:6-7 = “You have accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord. Now keep on following him. Plant your roots in Christ and let him be the foundation for your life. Be strong in your faith, just as you were taught. And be grateful.”
How will you feel if you get to know of an acre of land in a luxurious residential area with only the foundation of a building left unattended to on it for decades? You will wonder if the owner of the land is still alive, has forgotten about it, or is willing to sell it? These questions come to mind simply because nothing is being built on the foundation that had been laid. Once a land is bought and the foundation is raised, the natural expectation is that the main building will continue.
for some of us in Christ, that is the picture of their lives before God; building foundation with no building erected on it.
Paul told the believers that since they have received Jesus Christ Who is our Surest salvation, they were expected to be built up in Christ (1 Corinthians 3:11-12). In other words, God Expects us to build on the solid Foundation our Lord Jesus Has Laid for us. After salvation through Faith in Christ what next? That is the foundation reflecting the baby Christian. After that stage, how well do we seek to grow?
