James 1:22 – “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves”. (NKJV)
obey the Word of God – be a doer – otherwise, you open the door to extreme attacks from the devil
In our walk with God, if we only study His Word or even memorize it without applying it to our lives, we will only be deceiving ourselves and not be making any progress in our Christian walk.
In this modern age, we get access to God’s Word without struggle. We hear and study the Word through our daily quiet times, group Bible studies, preaching and teaching services, audio and video tape preaching etc.
Now we even have access to scriptures on our mobile phones, laptops, tablets, and others. The question then is, how many of the lessons and commandments of God we know have we been practicing?
Are we loving as we should? Are we being kind, gentle, patient, forgiving, chaste, and prayerful as we ought to be? This is a wake-up call to all of us. Radical obedience is not only asking what Jesus did, but it’s about doing what He did – it’s in our doing/obedience that we will get any kind of breakthrough.
From today, let us take careful thought of God’s Word and live as victorious Christians by applying it to our lives. people should be doers of God’s Word, and not just listen to the Word.
Amen.
Prayer
Dear Lord, grant me the Grace to treat Your Word with all seriousness. Open the eyes of my understanding, that I may know You and live as You desire. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
QUESTION FOR MEDITATION:
Am I a doer of the Word of God I receive?
