TRUST THE SON

John 3:34-35 “For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him…The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand”.

Have you ever found yourself caught between two people who should have been in agreement but clearly were not? Perhaps it was your parents giving different instructions, a manager and their supervisor offering conflicting directions, or two friends giving opposite advice. You asked a simple question but ended up with two completely different answers. The result? Confusion, uncertainty, and hesitation about what to do next.

Moments like these remind us how reassuring it is when people are truly aligned; when their words, intentions, and actions all point in the same direction.

When it comes to God and Jesus, that kind of confusion never exists.

In John 3:34–35, we read:

“For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit. The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands.”

These words reveal something profoundly comforting about Jesus: He perfectly reflects the heart and voice of God. There is no disconnect between them, no misunderstanding, and no conflicting message. Jesus speaks what God speaks. He reveals what God desires. He embodies the very nature and love of God.

This means that when Jesus speaks, we are hearing the very expression of God’s heart.

Throughout His life and ministry, Jesus demonstrated this unity. His words carried divine truth, His compassion revealed divine love, and His authority showed divine power. He was not simply sharing ideas about God: He was revealing God Himself. Every promise He made, every act of kindness He showed, and every sacrifice He embraced reflected the Father’s heart.

John tells us that God gives the Spirit to Jesus “without limit.” This means that Jesus operates with complete spiritual authority and fullness. There is no shortage of wisdom, no limitation to His power, and no uncertainty in His mission. Everything the Father entrusted to Him was given in love and confidence.

The verse goes even further: “The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands.”

What a remarkable statement. Everything (authority, purpose, and the unfolding of God’s plan) has been entrusted to Jesus. This tells us something deeply reassuring about our faith: the One we trust is fully empowered and fully aligned with God’s will.

Because of this, we can trust Jesus completely.

In a world filled with competing voices, shifting opinions, and endless uncertainty, Jesus remains a steady and reliable guide. His words do not contradict the heart of God—they reveal it. His promises are not empty hopes; they are backed by divine authority. His love is not temporary: it flows from the eternal love of the Father.

This truth matters deeply in our everyday lives.

We all face moments of confusion, hardship, and doubt. Relationships can become strained, circumstances can feel overwhelming, and life’s path may seem unclear. During such times, it can be tempting to rely solely on human wisdom or the loudest voice around us. Yet the invitation of the gospel is to return again and again to Jesus: to listen to Him, trust Him, and follow His voice.

When we look at Jesus, we see the heart of God on full display. His compassion toward the hurting, His patience with the struggling, and His sacrifice for humanity all reveal a love that reaches far beyond our expectations.

Trusting Jesus means believing that His words are true, His guidance is reliable, and His power is sufficient for every situation we face. It means allowing His voice to bring clarity where confusion once lived and peace where anxiety once ruled.

But trusting Jesus also shapes how we live.

As we grow in our relationship with Him, His character begins to shape ours. We learn to speak words that bring life, extend compassion to those around us, and place our confidence not in our own strength but in the power of God working through us.

The more we trust the Son, the more our lives begin to reflect His light.

So, when uncertainty arises, and it inevitably will, remember this unshakable truth: God and Jesus are perfectly united. The Son reveals the Father, speaks His truth, and carries His authority. Because of that, we can place our trust in Him with confidence. And when we do, we discover that the voice guiding us is not just wise; it is the very voice of God speaking through the Son He loves.
Amen.
