DO YOU BELIEVE?

Psalm 107:13–14 “Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder.”

Throughout Scripture, we see a consistent theme woven through the lives of ordinary people: God rescues, restores, and intervenes with power and compassion. Stories of deliverance are not rare moments; they are the heartbeat of God’s relationship with His people. From freeing communities from oppression to protecting individuals from danger, God has shown time and again that He hears when His people cry out and He responds with strength and mercy. His character is unchanging, His goodness unmistakable, and His reach limitless.

But beyond the stories, beyond the verses, beyond the traditions, we must confront a deeply personal question:

DO YOU BELIEVE THIS?

Do you believe that God truly heard the cries of an entire nation and created a path where there was none? Do you believe that the same God who orchestrated deliverance in the past is the same God who listens to you today? It’s easy to admire these accounts as distant events, but they were real moments in the lives of real people who encountered a very real God.

Do you believe in the miracles Jesus performed: eyes opened, lives restored, hearts healed? These were not acts of spectacle; they were expressions of compassion, demonstrations of divine love breaking into human need. And if He did it then, do you believe He is still able to move with that same power today?

Do you believe that a life so hardened, so violent, so determined to destroy could be radically transformed from the inside out? That someone consumed by hatred could become a vessel of hope and truth? That’s what happened with Saul; the man who became Paul. And it shows that no heart is too cold, no story too broken, no person too far gone for God to reach.

When you think of the hardest situations in your life, the challenges you’ve faced, the people who seem impossible to love, the burdens that feel too heavy: do you believe that God can step into those exact places with the same power He used throughout Scripture?

The God who delivered then is the God who delivers now. He has not retired. He has not grown distant. He has not lost His ability to act. He still hears. He still moves. He still transforms. His presence is not a concept; it is a reality. His compassion is not a theory; it is an unchanging truth.

Psalm 107 reminds us that when people cried out in their distress, God heard them—and He rescued them. Not because they were perfect, not because they had everything figured out, but because He is faithful. He breaks chains, opens doors, restores dignity, and renews hope.

So, let this question settle in your heart today: Do you believe God can deliver you?

Do you believe He can heal what’s broken?

Do you believe He can rewrite your story?

Do you believe He is present in your today with the same authority He held in every miracle recorded in Scripture? Your answer to that question will shape how you pray, how you hope, how you walk, and how you face the challenges ahead. God is still the Deliverer. He is still close. He is still able. And He is with you right now.
Amen.
