1 Samuel 11:2-3,11 NET – “2. But Nahash the Ammonite said to them, “The only way I will make a treaty with you is if you let me gouge out the right eye of every one of you and in so doing humiliate all Israel!” 3. The elders of Jabesh said to him, “Leave us alone for seven days so that we can send messengers throughout the territory of Israel. If there is no one who can deliver us, we will come out voluntarily to you.””
¹¹“The next day Saul placed the people in three groups. They went to the Ammonite camp during the morning watch and struck them down until the hottest part of the day. The survivors scattered; no two of them remained together.”
Is it our duty to fight for people who cannot fight for themselves, or is it okay to look the other way? Those who can speak for themselves can defend well because of getting practice. It’s better to help someone who can’t speak for themselves. Love conquers everything, so best way we (human being) can fight for people is love them.
We are on earth to bear fruit, love people – Our number 1 goal is to love people. Love people in spite of your emotions. it’s a dishonour to God to be in strive with somebody. Love can be seen in – Words (can express love), service, giving, help, etc. You can love people by things you say or things you don’t say but you can say, being patience, kind, Faithful, with them.
If your heart is in a wrong condition, you cannot love people properly – we must understand that as Christians that is the number 1 most important thing that we should learn to do – “…& love your neighbour. When you love people, you become a gracious person (help people who don’t deserve it.)
Love people on purpose – decide ahead of time that you are going to be good to people – decide & Pray about It to encourage, lift people up. We can win the war if every Christian will let his light shine -– love people (the unbelievers) into The Kingdom of God.
If you have a judgemental, hypocritical, bitter, resentful, etc heart you can’t love people – how can you love somebody if you are judging him, and how can you love somebody you resent? LOVE PEOPLE & ENJOY HELPING THEM – every day choose 2-3 people & bless them
This is what the Lord says: “Do what is just and right. Rescue from the hand of the oppressor the one who has been robbed. Do no wrong or violence to the foreigner, to the fatherless or the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place.”
The Bible gives us the clear message that God not only goes to battle on our behalf, but He Conquers the enemy. Sometimes He performs visible Miracles, like parting the Red Sea before the Hebrews, then bringing the water down to swallow up the Egyptian army. Other times, He more subtly creates or changes circumstances to help us. “Do not be afraid of them; the Lord your God himself will fight for you” (Deuteronomy 3:22).
Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, and for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy. Do not let your heart faint, do not be afraid, and do not tremble or be terrified because of them; for the LORD your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.
Hello precious one, it is an important truth to acknowledge that leaders are primarily chosen to fight for the people. Leaders are choosing to foster the wellbeing of their followers and direct affairs for them to get to their destinations in life. It is unfortunate that some leaders become more selfish and ‘loot’ wealth even as their followers perish.
When God Anointed Saul as king, He added that Saul would be a deliverer for His people Israel. The Ammonites sent a message to Jabesh in Gilead for them to be destroyed. In fact, their king wanted to gouge out the right eye of every one of them so he humiliates Israel. By the Power of the Holy Spirit, Saul arose and fought on their behalf, bringing them victory and deliverance.
Precious one, as we work with God faithfully, He will surely elevate us to places of influence and leadership. However, it is important that we realize that these elevations are not the end in themselves. We are supposed to use our sphere of influence to bring solutions to the lives of people. The principle is very simple: God lifts us up so we can lift others up. Leadership goes beyond enjoying the honor and applause, to actually involve a continuous process of sacrifice.
I want to challenge you today; if you are not ready to sacrifice, then you are not ready to lead. If you are not ready to go all out for the people that God has placed under your care, then you are not ready to lead them. We have no idea, how critical some of the deliverance our people need are. You are a deliverer in the making; rise up and fight on behalf of the people, that is the real job of leadership.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, please forgive me for the times I may have been insensitive to the plight of the people You have placed under my care. Please help me by Your Spirit to continue fighting for them, and Jesus’ Name, Amen.
QUESTION FOR MEDITATION
Am I really ready to fight on behalf of others for their deliverance?
