John 9:37-38 “And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee. And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him”.
HAVE YOU EVER FELT LIKE YOU COULDN’T SEE GOD?
In John 9, we encounter a man born blind, living in a world shaped by darkness, unable to witness the very miracles happening around him. While others followed Jesus and marvelled at His works, this man could only hear the stories. That is, until everything changed. Jesus met him in his condition, touched his eyes, and gave him sight.
BUT THE MIRACLE DIDN’T END THERE.
After being healed, the man found himself under scrutiny. Questioned and pressured, he refused to deny what had happened. He stood firm in his testimony: once blind, now he could see. His boldness came at a cost; he was rejected and cast out by those who refused to believe.
Yet even in that moment of rejection, he was not alone.
JESUS SOUGHT HIM OUT.
Imagine that the same Jesus who opened his physical eyes is now pursuing his heart. He asked him, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” The man, still growing in understanding, asked who that was. And Jesus replied with life-changing clarity: “You have now seen Him; in fact, He is the one speaking with you.”
In an instant, the man’s journey deepened. He didn’t just receive sight; he encountered the One who gave it. He moved from physical blindness to spiritual revelation. From seeing the world…to seeing the Saviour.
THIS STORY IS NOT JUST ABOUT ONE MAN: IT’S ABOUT ALL OF US.
There are moments when we struggle to see clearly. Sometimes life feels clouded, and God seems distant. At other times, we may be going through the motions of faith while quietly wondering where He is in the details of our lives. And for some, the journey begins in a place of spiritual darkness, unsure of where to turn.
BUT HERE IS THE HOPE: JESUS STILL OPENS EYES.
He meets us where we are, not where we pretend to be. He is not waiting for perfect vision before drawing near; He brings clarity as we encounter Him. The same voice that called out to that man still calls to us today, inviting us into a deeper, clearer relationship with Him.
WHAT WE FIX OUR EYES ON SHAPES WHAT WE SEE.
When we turn our attention toward Jesus, when we slow down, listen, and truly seek Him, we begin to notice His presence in places we once overlooked. Our perspective shifts. What once felt ordinary becomes meaningful. What once felt dark begins to fill with light.
TRANSFORMATION OFTEN BEGINS WITH ATTENTION.
The more we look to Him, the more we recognise His hand at work: in our lives, in our circumstances, and even in the quiet, unnoticed moments. Like the man who received his sight, we begin to carry a story worth telling: a story of grace, restoration, and encounter.
And here’s the beautiful truth: Jesus is not distant or disinterested in this process. He actively seeks us out. He is invested in our growth, our healing, and our ability to see truly.
So today, wherever you find yourself, whether in clarity or confusion, lift your eyes. Look for Him in the everyday. Listen for His voice in the quiet. Trust that He is nearer than you think. Because when you seek Him, you will find Him. And when you see Him, everything changes. Amen.
