VICTORY IN CHRIST

1 Corinthians 15:57 – “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

The message of the gospel is simple, yet infinitely powerful: Jesus died and rose again so we could truly live. His sacrifice opened the door to salvation, but that is only the beginning of the story. Through Christ, we are invited into a life marked by freedom, confidence, purpose, and unshakable victory.

The cross was not just a moment of forgiveness; it was a moment of triumph. Jesus didn’t only cover our sins; He broke the power behind them. The resurrection was heaven’s declaration that darkness has been defeated, death has lost its grip, and the enemy has no final say over the life of a believer. Because He lives, we can live with strength that goes beyond our limits and hope that cannot be crushed.

Paul reminds the church that the victory Jesus won is not theoretical; it is deeply personal. It means the weight of guilt no longer chains our souls. It means the shame of yesterday cannot define tomorrow. It means that the Holy Spirit now empowers us to walk in a new kind of life: one marked by joy, spiritual authority, and inner transformation. The same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead now lives in you, giving you the power to overcome habits, thoughts, and battles that once seemed impossible.

And perhaps the most comforting truth is this: Jesus also conquered the greatest enemy, death itself. For many, death is the fear beneath all fears. But for those in Christ, death is no longer an end; it’s a doorway into eternal life. The resurrection assures us that we will live forever with God, free from sorrow, suffering, and limitation. We don’t face the future with dread; we face it with expectation.

This eternal victory forms the foundation of our daily confidence. Paul urges believers to stand firm, not because life is easy, but because Jesus has already secured the outcome. You don’t fight for victory; you fight from victory. No force, no failure, and no darkness can separate you from the love of God. Your life is held by a triumphant Saviour who has already overcome the world.

But victory in Christ does more than strengthen our hearts: it shapes our mission. Paul encourages believers to remain steadfast in the Lord’s work because everything done in His name has an eternal impact. Nothing you do for God is wasted. Every prayer spoken, every act of kindness, every seed of love planted, every word of encouragement shared, heaven sees it, and eternity values it.

So, what does the “work of the Lord” look like? It looks like loving God wholeheartedly and loving people genuinely. It looks like pointing others to hope when they feel lost. It looks like standing strong in your home, shining in your workplace, and being a light in your community. Ministry isn’t limited to a pulpit; it happens wherever God’s love is needed, and that means everywhere.

Because Jesus is victorious, you can step into each day with courage. Because He has overcome, you can overcome. Because He lives, every part of your life can echo the sound of victory. Walk boldly. Stand firmly. Love deeply. Your life is anchored in the One who never loses.
Amen
