Luke 2:8-10 NKJV, “8) And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night 9) And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid 10) And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.”
Luke 2:8-10 CEV, “8) That night in the fields near Bethlehem some shepherds were guarding their sheep. 9) All at once an angel came down to them from the Lord, and the brightness of the Lord’s glory flashed around them. The shepherds were frightened. 10 But the angel said, “Don’t be afraid! I have good news for you, which will make everyone happy”.
What will be the best news you can ever receive in your life? Will it be an international employment opportunity with lots of money involved? Will it be getting married to Miss Universe? What would your best news be?
Will it be for you to live on this Earth forever, in spite of its growing deterioration? Will it be for you to receive a 6-bedroom apartment and the latest car? These may be lovely to have, however, none of these can be compared to the good news of Jesus’ Birth.
While shepherds watched their flock by night, the Heavens Opened and an Angel of the Lord appeared to them to Announce the good news of great joy to all people. This news was simply the birth of the Savior of the world.
You may conclude in your mind that on realistic note, the news of Jesus ‘birth is not better than the possible opportunities mentioned above. However, let’s think about it; without Jesus, no human being could go to God Almighty and call Him ‘Heavenly Father’. Without Jesus, no one could have eternal life and access to the mansions in the Heavenly city forever.
Is there any relationship sweeter than the one we have the opportunity to share with God through Christ our Lord? The best spouse on Earth can break your heart but God never fails. Is there any estate in the world to be compared to the Heavenly Golden City?
Precious child of God, as we celebrate Christmas, we need to appreciate that Jesus Christ is the reason we have had access to all of God’s Blessings. To the world, Christmas may be about fried chicken, drinks, and parties. To us however, we know that truly, Jesus is the reason for the season.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I duly acknowledge that the birth of my Lord Jesus Christ was my greatest news of Salvation and hope.
Thank You LORD, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
