Galatians 5:22-23 – “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”
How will you feel if you go and plug a sumptuously looking orange on its tree, only for it to taste like a lemon? You can imagine the facial expression that you will put up. However, when the fruit tastes good and sweet, you take delight in always eating of it.
God, in a similar manner, Desires that the fruits we produce turn out to be sweet and not bitter. The Spirit-filled life produces a sweet and pleasant character, whereas the sinful nature of the flesh produces bad and bitter fruits. That explains why in the Akan language of Ghanaians, sin is called ‘b)ne’, which means, ‘that which smells badly’.
Beloved, Paul described the fruit of the Spirit-filled life as: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control. In other words, show me a man who is truly filled with the Holy Spirit, and I will show you a person with the above-mentioned godly character.
Being a mature Child of God is not about the volume of your tongues, the length of your prayers, or how well you can prophesy. The proof of your maturity in Christ is you manifesting the Fruit of the Spirit. Once we follow the Leadership of the Holy Spirit in us, we will surely live a life of love, joy, peace, kindness, self-control, etc.
I want to inspire you today. Your life can be a sweet and pleasant one, devoid of envy, jealousy, drunkenness and sexual immorality, etc. Depend on the Holy Spirit, follow His Leadership and I can assure you that you will bear the sweet fruit of the Holy Spirit.
LOVE is the Curtain Rod on which all The Fruits of The Holy Spirit Hung – you can’t have self-control, etc. Self-control (Self-discipline) is what keeps together the Fruit of the Spirit and all Its Components.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please Help me to submit fully to the Holy Spirit, that I will manifest fully the sweet Fruit of the Holy Spirit; in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
