(NKJV) – Isaiah 10:12 = “Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks”.
(CEV) – “Isaiah 10:12 = The Lord will do what he has planned against Jerusalem and Mount Zion. Then he will punish the proud and boastful king of Assyria”.
Arrogance is an outward expression of disrespect to other people, as a result of an inward bloating of pride consuming the heart of that person. In other words, ‘pride inward naturally results in arrogance outward’. That is why pride goes with arrogance, just us humility naturally produces respect for people.
Because of the stiff-neckedness of Judah, God Set in Motion a Plan to ‘Punish’ them. Already, Assyria as a nation Had been Used to ‘Punish’ the Southern Kingdom of Israel, and their king had afterwards become very proud and arrogant. So God Planned that after He Was Done Dealing with Judah, He Would Deal with that arrogant Assyrian king.
(NOTE; When God ‘Brings’ His people into ‘trouble’, it is to Bring sin to their remembrance, and Humble them, and to Awaken them to a sense of their duty).
Have you met an arrogant person before? He or she speaks to other people as if he or she is the only human being on Earth, with all other people being ‘door mats’. They detest the poor, ‘rubbish’ the concerns of the needy, and speak harshly to anybody they come across in life. They feel they deserve the best of everything whereas others deserve the worst. God Looks from above and says, “Such Insolence!”. By the time God is Done ‘Dealing’ with such people, they will lift up their voices to thank Him after every breath they take every second.
Beloved, do not let God Decide to Deal with you because your heart is filled with pride that leads you to being arrogant. My dear, please analyse your life carefully: be humble, reverence God, respect other people, work on any element of pride in your heart because the true saying goes, “Pride goes before a fall”. Think about this.
Heavenly Father,
Please Have Mercy on me, as I humbly submit to You in absolute repentance. Please Help me to live a life of humility and Godly fear,
in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
