THE STORY GOD IS WRITING

Luke 1:45 “And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord”

There are moments in life when the story unfolding around us feels bigger than we can carry. Unexpected turns, unanswered questions, and uncertain outcomes can leave us wondering where we fit in it all. Yet the story of Mary reminds us that even in the unknown, God is writing something beautiful, and we are never alone in it.

Mary’s journey into motherhood was unlike any other. As a young, unmarried woman, she was entrusted with a calling that would change the course of history. The weight of it could have overwhelmed her: the questions, the potential judgment, the sheer magnitude of what lay ahead. But instead of withdrawing in fear, Mary leaned into connection.

She went to visit her relative Elizabeth, who was experiencing her own miracle. For years, Elizabeth and her husband Zechariah had prayed for a child, and now, in God’s perfect timing, their prayer had been answered. When Mary arrived, something extraordinary happened; Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, recognised the significance of Mary’s calling and spoke life over her.

In that moment, Mary wasn’t met with doubt or confusion, but with affirmation and joy.

What followed was not anxiety, but worship:

“My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour.”

Mary chose to trust the Author of her story. She chose to rejoice before she saw the outcome. She chose to believe that even in uncertainty, God was at work.

For three months, Mary stayed with Elizabeth. Imagine the depth of their conversations: two women, both carrying promises, both witnessing God’s faithfulness in deeply personal ways. Together, they didn’t just endure their circumstances; they celebrated what God was doing.

Mary’s story teaches us something powerful: faith is not the absence of questions; it is the decision to trust God in the middle of them.

Like Mary, we all find ourselves in unfolding stories we didn’t fully expect. Some chapters feel joyful, others confusing. But at every stage, God invites us to respond not with fear, but with trust. Not with isolation, but with connection. Not with hesitation, but with worship.

Today, you may not have all the answers. You may not see the full picture. But you can choose your response. Will you trust the story God is writing in your life. Will you rejoice, even now? Take a moment today to pause, reflect, and lift your heart in gratitude. The same God who was faithful in Mary’s story is faithfully at work in yours.
Amen.
