Proverbs 11:3 – The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the unfaithful destroys them.”
Integrity is an important virtue God Expects every child of His to uphold. Today, we shall take a look at some characteristics of a man or woman of integrity. Be person of integrity, use wisdom, do what you say you are going to do, keep your promises.
Ensuring that our ‘yes’ is ‘yes’ and our ‘no’ is ‘no’, goes beyond speaking the truth. It places emphasis on your integrity; where your actions confirm the words you speak. Integrity can be defined as the holistic character of firmly upholding truths and standard moral principles of life. Do what is right because it is right and not just to be seen by men and applauded – you keep your word.
A person of integrity is faithful to others, to himself/herself and to his/her words. This is the kind of disciples Jesus is seeking; men and women who are not double minded. A person of integrity values his/her words; his/her ‘yes’ and ‘no’, are absolutely ‘yes’ and ‘no’ respectively. Be determined to put Christ First in your life, be determined to be fully obedient to God, and be determined to be person full of integrity.
Therefore, as people of integrity, we have to add discipline, punctuality, and focus to being truthful. Unfortunately, many of us Christians are very double minded. We are not able to always uphold as Faithful servants, our godly values in Christ. God Wants us to be Faithfull, honest, trustworthy, & people of excellence & integrity.
Most of the time, we are indecisive, and we easily succumb to the pressures unbelievers exert on us. For example, a Christian lady being pressurized by an ungodly guy to engage in sexual immorality may initially say ‘no’. However, with time, she may compromise on her moral standards and engage in it, probably to get rid of the pressure.
Through meditation the integrity of God’s Word becomes a reality to you. As the truth is Revealed in your spirit, you will begin to do all that is written in it. Doing God’s Word is the end result of keeping God’s words in your mouth and meditating on His Word. Always be a person if integrity – Do what you say you are going to do – be honest at work, etc don’t play on the internet when your boss is out.
God is seriously searching for men and women of integrity; Faithful people He can trust. Surely, the integrity of the righteous guides them, but the crookedness of the unfaithful destroys them. Do not compromise your integrity, moral, etc – if you do something immoral just so you keep your job, leave it & trust God to Give you a new better job. Let us take that firm decision to be committed to a life of integrity, irrespective of the challenges that surround us. May God help us, Amen.
