Scripture Reading: Matthew 6
Matthew 6:31-33 – “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ “For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
Many times, we get overwhelmed by too many things. Modern life tends to be cluttered with too many things demanding for our attention. The presence of cell phones and social media can make us run our lives around in circles without achieving much for God and ourselves. That is why we need to have priorities.
Our vision and goals must be based on right priorities. First things first. When we learn the alphabets, we begin with, ‘A, B, C…’ When we learn numbers, we begin with, ‘1, 2, 3…’ in both instances, we start at the point which will lead us to the next logical step and build on that foundation. In the same way, when we want to order our lives, we need to start from the point that will lead us to the next logical step and build up on that.
Our Lord Jesus gave us the first thing to seek for. He said our priorities must be set by putting the things of God first in our lives. In our rush to acquire the comforts of life, we are tempted to push the things of God on to the back burner. However, when we seek God first, all the other parts of our lives fall in place.
CHOOSE TO PUT GOD FIRST: It doesn’t matter where you live, some may be young or old, some are married and some are single, the road is different but the journey is the same, and the end is the same. The purpose for all of us is to come in unity with our Creator through The Love of His Son, Jesus Christ, ie: Choose to Put God First and come into unity with our Creator through The Love of His Son, Jesus Christ.
Here are some ways to make God first in your life:
▪ Read the Bible for at least ten minutes daily
▪ Pray a minimum of ten minutes daily
▪ Attend church services regularly
▪ Serve God with all your heart, mind, soul, time, and talents – Form a habit of spending time with God
▪ Honour Christ with every choice you make
▪ Win one soul to Christ this year
▪ Generously support the work of God with your finances
Commit to taking these little steps regularly, and you will gain momentum and go on to achieve so much every year.
When you put God first it enables you to enjoy many things. Keeping God First Will be the answer to a lot (if not all) of your problems, and also stop depending on our job, govt, etc. Remember that when you put God First, He promises to Honour you all the days of your life! If don’t put God first in your life you will never be truly happy.
The only real secret to getting ahead in this world is ALWAYS to KEEP GOD FIRST IN EVERYTHING – form a habit of keeping God first – in your finances, family, marriage, etc. If you don’t put God first nothing will work for you. It’s simple. Put the Word of God first place in your daily life. To do that obey; Matt 6; 33. God is the Father of Comfort, so in any situation, we should go to Him first (In any discomfort situation God understands so go to Him first for Comfort). When you get a problem go to The Throne first not to the phone.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, you are the priority of my life. Give me the grace to live my life in a way that pleases you.
