1 Timothy 6:12, NKJV “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses”
1 Timothy 6:12, CEV “Fight a good fight for the faith and claim eternal life. God offered it to you when you clearly told about your faith, while so many people listened”.
Fight a good fight – It’s a ‘Good fight’ because we always win, ie Father God Wants us to win always, (2 Cor 2: 14) The only fight you are to fight is Faith, so when you are trouble just fight the good fight of Faith – God Has Given us weapons to win this war – it doesn’t matter what sort of darts the devil throws at us, we have The Shield Faith. Get in the WORD to strengthen your spiritual muscle so you can FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH and do not quit until you win because WINNERS DO NOT QUIT AND QUITTERS DO NOT WIN. Fight the good Fight of Faith with The Word of God. We all know that satan tricks and deceives people so for us to keep him from getting the advantage over us, we will have to fight the Good Fight of Faith
Know that satan hates you, so anytime you are about to make progress (eg; you decide to have a regular quiet-time, or you decide to help people, etc) satan will bring you a problem to stop you, and so you will have to be ready to fight the good fight of Faith all the time. Don’t settle for less. Don’t sell yourself cheap. Don’t let anyone talk you down. Prioritize your life for our time on earth is short. Listen to Godly advice but think for yourself too, & let your thinking be in Line with The Word of God. Fight The Good Fight of Faith until your last breath.
Life on earth is but a temporary journey with an opportunity to lay hold on eternal blessings. What you gather in this short period of earthly life is what will determine the kind of life you will experience in eternity. Our Heavenly Father Wants us to learn to hold on to things of eternal value. It is true that we all want to succeed in this life. However, any success on earth that does not involve the eternal Salvation and prosperity of the soul, is nothing close to success at all. Of what use is having a rich CV, career experience, mansions, and cars, etc., if none of them will follow you when in transition to eternity, either into the Heavenly Jerusalem or to Hell.
So in as much as we crave for comfort and material well-being in our earthly lives, we need to equally fight to protect, secure, and persist in the precious eternal calling in Christ Jesus. Do you easily lay aside your Christlike identity when confronted with certain challenges of life? Do you freely commit sins with the intention that once God is always there, you can always go and ask Him for Forgiveness? If the answer is a ‘Yes’, then know that you have not placed any special value on the eternal gift of salvation and membership in God’s Kingdom Family. No matter what we experience in our quest for success in this life, we also ought to learn to value and hold on to the Faith and eternal life we have received. If it means losing opportunities or even suffering, so be it. As we do that, the God Who is a Rewarder will Reward us beyond what sin could have secured for us. Hold on.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please grant me the inner strength to firmly hold on to my Faith in Christ and eternal life. May I never compromise on Holiness in my quest for success on earth.
