Psalm 1: 1 NKJV, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly…”
Psalm 1: 1 CEV, “God blesses those people who refuse evil advice…”
Proverbs 13:10 NIV, ‘Wisdom is found in those who take advice.’
Success is based on hearing & obeying God, Stop listening to the advice of people. Too often we go to people (to ask for advice on what we should do), instead of us going to God. It’s not bad for you to go to people for advice but first you should ask God if that person if who are supposed to go to. Most of these people who we ask them what to, they themselves even don’t know what they are doing either, yet we run to them; go to God about anything.
To win in life, you must become a lifelong learner, and learning requires submission. We may think submission is ‘just for those other people who need to be led’. This is particularly true in our early years when we’re sure that we know it all and use every opportunity to prove it.
Reaching for a good adviser requires humility of heart. The truth is, if you’re not teachable, your future is already decided! The more you think you know, the less likely you are to place yourself under the influence of those who really know and can help you. This is especially true when you view yourself as more capable, passionate and talented than others around you. The wise always seek counsel. If you’re wise, you will acknowledge your limitations; only a fool believes he or she has none. Only the naive are foolish enough to operate under the assumption that they can make all the right calls without good input. But they can’t.
Here are three Scriptures you need to stop and consider today:
(1) (Proverbs 12:15 NIV). ‘The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice’
(2) (Proverbs 15:22 NIV). ‘Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed’
(3) (Proverbs 19:20 NIV). ‘Listen to advice and accept discipline, and at the end you will be counted among the wise’
It’s not just what your adviser knows, it’s what they see that makes them valuable to you. They are extra eyes and ears. Why would you want to live without them?
Anytime that you have a problem, the first thing that we should do is to ask God. Often, we run to people (I’m not saying that it’s wrong to go to people), but don’t go to anybody for advice until you have first asked God whether it was the person you were supposed to go to? To be honest most of the people we go as what to do, don’t even know what they are doing so it will be wise to ask God First.
Listen to Godly advice but think for yourself too, and let your thinking be in Line with The Word of God. Amen
