1 PETER 5:5-6

(NKJV): v5 “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. v6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

(NIV): v5 “In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,

“God opposes the proud

but shows favor to the humble.”

6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.”

(CEV): v5 “All of you young people should obey your elders. In fact, everyone should be humble toward everyone else. The Scriptures say”

“God opposes proud people,

but he helps everyone

who is humble.”

v6 Be humble in the presence of God’s mighty power, and he will honor you when the time comes.”

THE QUICKEST WAY UP IS DOWN, (1 Pet 5: 6 – Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. If you don’t do what God Wants to do but you do your own thing, God Will Bring you down.

We need to be respectful. If God is Resisting you, then you are not in  a good place. it’s our job to humble  our self and treat everybody with respect. Our Heavenly Father Wants us to take a closer look at the role humility plays in our quest for success in life.

A person of humility has referential fear of God, and that person trusts God for their strength. A humble person is a maker of peace (he is willing to adjust & make peace). No matter whose fault it was, he/she will apologize. A humble person is careful how he/she treats people.

Be humble in The Presence of God’s Mighty Power, and He Will Honour you when the time comes. By yourself you cannot do anything on your own, but you can do everything through God.

Sometime ago, I asked The Holy Spirit what it meant to be humble, and He Gave me a very profound definition as follows:

“To be humble is to place great value on all the people around you,

and to readily serve them without losing your sense of dignity.”

I deduced three main factors from this definition as follows:

  1. A humble person values everyone around her/him as being a special person; An Image of God.
  2. A humble person is always ready to serve.
  3. A humble person knows his/her self-worth and knows that service doesn’t deny him of his dignity but rather lays a foundation for his Exaltation.

Unfortunately for some of us in the Body of Christ, pride and arrogance has become a hindrance to our breakthroughs in life. Some of us are in church trusting God for bigger things yet we despise fellow Christians, because we feel we are better than them. God Sends ‘simple’ people as solutions to our problems, but our pride and arrogance cause us to mistreat or disregard them.

Let us be humble before God, and also in our relationship with people. What do we have that we have not received? It is only the humble that God Will Exalt.

How do you do 1 Pet 5: 6? By doing v7 – how? By refusing to worry.

Heavenly Father,

Please Forgive me for any attitude of pride in me. I ask for Grace to walk in humility. Exalt Your Child LORD,

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
