BE A PEACEMAKER AND DO GOOD TO OTHERS

Luke 2:11, 13-14 – “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord….And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, good will toward men.”

The very essence of the first coming of our Lord Jesus Christ was to bring Glory to God, peace, and goodwill to men. We have also received this same mandate to be peacemakers and do good to all men.

This account of Scripture reveals what the Heavenly host of Angels were doing in response to the birth of Jesus Christ. The Angels declared three important reasons for the birth of Jesus: 1. that glory will be given to God by all men, 2. men will live in peace and finally 3. That men will do good to each other. As Christians, we are to carry out this agenda that accompanied the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.

It is therefore important for us to be peace makers on earth. In our homes, at our workplace, at school, we have to be peacemakers and learn the habit of doing good. We must first help others to also be saved and have eternal life. Those clothes that are lying waste can be a blessing to someone. Do you throw food away, whiles that child at next door is struggling for a meal a day?

Let us learn to do good to others. Some Christian couples are seen together only at church; at home there is war. Some Christian women also engage in quarrels and gossiping without exercising any form of patience. It is a call for us to love one another and be at peace with all men.

I want to challenge us today; let us go out there and cease every single opportunity to help other people. It is time to go and reconcile with those we have gathered hatred for. Remember, Heaven is waiting for the day peace and goodwill will be to all men.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, please grant me the strength to be an agent of peace whose good deeds will bring glory to You. Bless me and my entire family today. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Question for Meditation:

What is my greatest motivation for doing good to others?
