“12 As he approached the town gate, a man who had died was being carried out, the only son of his mother (who was a widow), and a large crowd from the town was with her. 13 When the Lord saw her, he had compassion for her and said to her, Do not weep. 14 Then he came up and touched the bier, and those who carried it stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, get up! 15 So the dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.”
Luke 7:12-15
Our Lord Jesus Christ went to a town called Nain where a young energetic man had died and was going to be buried. What made the situation so sad was the fact that he was the only child of a widow. In that coffin laid her only hope and comfort. When Jesus, the Hope and Comfort for the soul appeared in the scene, He raised the dead with a Touch and a Command. What a Man Jesus is! Jesus has the ability to bring the dead back to life.
Beloved, have you ever been to a funeral and watched a dead body laid in state before? It is a perfect description of a hopeless circumstance. We usually go for funerals to bid the deceased farewell and comfort those who mourn but for the funerals Jesus attended, the Gospel accounts indicate that it ended up in the resurrection of the dead.
If this same Jesus who raised this young man from the dead Expresses that He is the Resurrection and the Life, let us take Him seriously. If such a Person with Power over death assures us that He will return, Rapture His saints and grant them eternal life, let us believe in Him. If He assures us that the hopeless business, family or financial issues will receive life because of His Touch, let us have Faith in Him.
Is it not unbelievable that He who lives in us has Power over death and that physical death cannot rob us of life everlasting? Today, Jesus is Touching every coffin in our lives – be it academic, employment, finance, or family crises and as He does that, whatever hopeless situation we find ourselves in will receive new life. Jesus is the Man with the capacity to bring the dead back to life.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for this amazing revelation that Christ in me leads to victory over problems of life. Please revive in me any dead blessing. Bless my loved ones and me. Lead us in the path of eternity. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
