OVERCOMING SELFISHNESS

(NKJV):   Philippians 2:3 = “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.”

(CEV):     Philippians 2:3 = “Don’t be jealous or proud, but be humble and consider others more important than yourselves.”

God’s (Agape) Love is A Supernatural unconditional Love, but human love is selfish & conditional. God Has instituted 2 main Divine Laws in this world. They are: the LAW OF LIFE and the LAW OF DEATH. These laws are turned on by love & selfishness respectively.

Selfishness is the reciprocal of Love. We should not live for only our self (selfishness), but we should also reach out to others. We should always seek the welfare of our neighbors, & not focus only on ourselves. Don’t look down on people. Stop being religious & be Godly: no more  ME, MYSELF, and I (selfishness).

Always believe God for more than enough so you have excess to bless other people. Don’t be selfish & ask God for just enough for only yourself. People with low esteem of themselves act low. Love is not a gooey feeling, it’s a decision to do good, seeing a need & meeting it.  Nothing in Kingdom works outside of love. Fornication is based in selfishness & not in love. Even thinking too much of your needs is selfish. No matter what you  think, God is working in you. Start believing the best of people, not the worst of them. Insecure selfish people always have their feelings hurt. Selfish people cannot be happy, you can’t selfish and be happy.

1 Cor; 10. 24 – Let no man seek his own, but every man another’s wealth.

2 Cor; 5, 15 – Jesus Christ died  so that  we don’t live a self –centered, selfish  live.

Paul writes: ‘Consider others more important than yourselves. Care about them as much as you care about yourselves and think the same way that Christ Jesus thought’ (Philippians 2:3-5 CEV). This goes against our natural instincts, but Jesus Shows us how. Hanging on the Cross, He Took time for the condemned criminal hanging next to him (see Luke 23:39-43). As he was being stoned, Stephen prayed for those killing him, asking God not to lay the sin to their charge (see Acts 7:60). Beaten and wrongly imprisoned, Paul and Silas took time to minister to their jailer. Even after God Sent a powerful earthquake that broke their chains and opened their prison doors, they stayed for the sole purpose of ministering to their captor. How tempting it must have been to escape while the opportunity was there. How easy it would have been to look out for themselves and not worry about anybody else. But their act of love moved the jailer to ask how he might be saved and, as a result, he and his entire family were won to Christ (see Acts 16:25-34).

In a world whose philosophy is ‘look out for number one’, selfishness is an instinct you will need God’s Help to overcome. And when you do, people will take notice. You will never win others by being just like them, so here is the question you need to answer: how many of your friends and loved ones may come to know Christ if you demonstrate that you genuinely love them instead of ignoring, judging, and rejecting them?

Although we are told in The Bible not to ‘think more highly of our self than we ought to’ (Rom 12: 3), we are never taught to have a low demeaning opinion of yourself. In fact, it is ungodly to do that. Learn to see yourself as our Heavenly Father Sees you, He Sees you in Christ

Most of ground satan gains in a believer is through  an open door of unforgiveness. Teach poor people that selfishness  shuts down the Blessing completely. Perfect love overcomes selfishness. The day we got saved the Holy Spirit came into us & poured Agape Love into us, so every believer has the potential to love the enemy/unlovely.
