Luke 10:19 “Behold, I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (NKJV)
Many Christians live far below the life Jesus intended for them; not because God has withheld His blessings, but because they have not fully understood the authority He has already entrusted to them. They pray, hope, and wait for change while overlooking the incredible power that belongs to them through their relationship with Christ.
When Jesus died on the cross and rose again, He not only secured our salvation but also restored us to a position of spiritual authority. Through Him, we are no longer helpless spectators in life’s battles. We have been empowered to stand firm, overcome opposition, and live victoriously in every area of life.
From the very beginning, God created humanity to reflect His character and exercise wise stewardship over His creation. Although sin disrupted that purpose, Jesus came to restore what had been lost. Through His finished work, every believer has been brought into a new relationship with God and equipped to live with confidence, courage, and spiritual authority.
This authority does not come from human strength, personal achievement, or religious effort. It comes from our union with Jesus Christ. He has all authority in heaven and on earth, and those who belong to Him share in the victory He has already won. We do not fight to earn victory, but we stand in the victory Christ has already secured.
One of the greatest ways we exercise this authority is through our words. God’s Word carries life, truth, and power. As we speak His promises with faith, we align our hearts with His truth instead of allowing fear, doubt, or discouragement to shape our thinking. Speaking God’s Word is not about repeating empty phrases; it is about confidently agreeing with what God has said and allowing His truth to transform our lives.
Challenges will still come. Difficult circumstances, disappointments, and spiritual opposition are realities of living in a broken world. Yet these situations do not determine our future. The authority Jesus has given us enables us to face every obstacle with unwavering confidence, knowing that He is greater than anything that comes against us.
Walking in this authority also requires humility and dependence on the Holy Spirit. True spiritual authority is never about controlling people or promoting ourselves. Instead, it is expressed through love, faith, wisdom, compassion, and obedience to Christ. As we remain close to Him, His strength becomes evident in our weaknesses, and His peace guards our hearts even in difficult seasons.
Every day presents opportunities to exercise the authority Jesus has given us. We can resist fear with faith, replace anxiety with God’s promises, confront temptation with His truth, and pray with confidence for ourselves and others. Rather than being overwhelmed by life’s circumstances, we can choose to trust the One who has already overcome the world.
Remember that your past failures, present struggles, or future uncertainties do not define your identity. Your identity is rooted in Jesus Christ. Because you belong to Him, you can live with boldness, hope, and unwavering confidence. The power He has given you is not meant to remain dormant; it is meant to be lived out every day as you trust Him, speak His Word, and follow His leading.
Today, choose to walk in the authority Jesus has already placed within your hands. Stand firmly on His promises, depend on His Spirit, and face every challenge with confidence. The One who lives in you is greater than any obstacle before you, and through Him you have everything you need to live a life of faith, victory, and purpose.
