Isaiah 54:10 – “For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee” (NKJV)
Everywhere we turn, we are confronted by reminders of how fragile life on earth can be. News headlines scream of wars, earthquakes, global crises, and deep social unrest. The world feels like it is shifting beneath our feet, and with every breaking story, it is easy to feel unsettled, gripped by fear, or weighed down by uncertainty.
BUT THIS ISN’T NEW.
From the very beginning, when humanity chose its own way, the world has been marked by brokenness. Pain, conflict, and natural disasters have long been integral to the human experience. And yet, in the midst of it all, one truth has remained constant: God is unshakable.
ISAIAH 54:10 OFFERS A STRIKING PROMISE:
“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.
In a world where everything seems subject to change, we are reminded that God’s love remains constant. His compassion is not just a distant ideal; it is deeply personal. When everything around us feels like it’s falling apart, God remains our anchor.
Just a few chapters earlier, Isaiah declares that God never grows weary. His understanding is limitless, and His strength is unmatched (Isaiah 40). That means no crisis overwhelms Him, no chaos catches Him off guard, and no amount of shaking ever moves Him from His throne.
THIS ISN’T JUST A COMFORTING THOUGHT, IT IS A GAME-CHANGER.
We no longer have to live captive to fear. Whether it’s fear of failure, fear of the unknown, or fear instilled by the instability in the world, we can trade it for a deeper sense of security. Because when God is our foundation, we are not standing on shifting sand. We are standing on solid ground.
AND PERHAPS MOST AMAZING OF ALL IS THIS: GOD’S LOVE FOR US DOES NOT FLUCTUATE WITH OUR PERFORMANCE.
When we stumble, He doesn’t withdraw from us. He doesn’t tighten His arms or close His heart. His love is not earned, and therefore it cannot be lost. He sees our flaws and yet pours out compassion, again and again. His love is fierce, faithful, and forever.
That’s the kind of love that gives us confidence, not only to face the world but to draw near to God without hesitation. We don’t need to tiptoe around Him, worried we have pushed Him too far. Instead, we can come boldly, knowing that we are anchored in grace.
GOD’S LOVE WILL NOT BE SHAKEN.
He invites us to rest in that truth. To stop striving, stop fearing, and simply trust that we are secure in His hands. Even when the mountains move and the hills crumble, He is the same; yesterday, today, and forever.
Let His unfailing love be your foundation. Let it shape your thoughts, calm your heart, and carry you through whatever storms may come. So when the world shakes, when the headlines alarm us, or when our personal lives feel unsteady, let this truth hold you steady: Amen.
