Hebrews 11:1 – “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
Faith does more than help us endure the present; it shapes how we approach the future. It gives us the courage to act on what we believe about God before we can see the outcome. Throughout Scripture, we encounter people who trusted God so deeply that their faith moved them to respond before circumstances changed.
Consider the woman who had suffered from an issue of blood for twelve years. She believed that touching Jesus’ garment would be enough to make her well, and she acted on that conviction. Her faith moved her through the crowd toward Jesus, and she received her healing (Mark 5:25–34).
Then there was Jairus, whose daughter was dying. When the situation became seemingly hopeless and news came that the child had died, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe” (Mark 5:36). Jairus had to keep believing when the evidence around him suggested there was nothing left to hope for. Yet Jesus went with him, and his daughter was restored to life (Mark 5:35–43).
The man delivered from a legion of demons in the region of the Gerasenes also experienced a life-changing encounter with Jesus (Mark 5:1–20). His story reminds us that no situation is beyond Christ’s authority and that a transformed future can begin with a single encounter with Him.
These stories reveal an important truth: Faith is not pretending that difficulties do not exist. It is choosing to believe that God is greater than those difficulties and that His promises are worthy of our trust.
When we genuinely believe God, our faith influences our decisions today. We pray differently. We persevere differently. We prepare differently. We begin taking steps toward possibilities that may not yet be visible.
Perhaps God has placed something in your heart that still seems distant; a restoration, a new opportunity, provision for an upcoming season, healing, direction, or a deeper purpose. You may not have all the answers yet, but you can begin preparing your heart and your life for what you are trusting God to do.
Faith does not demand that you know every detail of tomorrow. It simply gives you enough confidence in God to take the next step today.
Faith prepares us for what we have not yet seen. Believe before you see. Prepare while you wait. Move forward with expectation. The future becomes easier to face when your confidence is anchored not in what you see, but in the God you trust.
