BE THE EXAMPLE

1 Timothy 4:12 “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” (NKJV)

Have you ever looked at yourself and thought, “I am too young,” “I am too old,” “I do not have enough experience,” or “I am not important enough to make a difference”? These thoughts can easily make us underestimate what God can do through our lives.

When Paul encouraged Timothy, he reminded him not to let his age limit him. Instead, Timothy was told to become an example to other believers; in his speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity. The message was simple: your influence isn’t determined by your age; it is shown by the life you live.

You may be young and full of energy, fresh ideas, creativity, and vision. Do not despise those qualities. Ask God how you can use them to encourage others, serve faithfully, and bring hope wherever you go.

You may be older and have years of experience behind you. Your wisdom, perseverance, discernment, and lessons learned through difficult seasons can become a source of strength for others. What you have learned through life can help someone else avoid unnecessary mistakes and remain encouraged when the journey becomes difficult.

God can use every season of your life.

Being an example does not mean pretending to be perfect. It means allowing your relationship with Christ to shape the way you speak, respond, treat people, handle pressure, and make decisions. Sometimes your greatest testimony is not what you say from a platform but what people see in you when life does not go according to plan.

Your words can bring encouragement instead of discouragement. Your actions can demonstrate kindness instead of selfishness. Your faith can give someone courage when they are struggling to believe. Your love can remind someone that they are valued. Your integrity can show others that following Christ affects everyday choices.

You do not need a title, position, large audience, or special opportunity before you can make a difference. Your life is already influencing someone. The question is: What kind of example are you giving them?

So, wherever you are today, do not wait for another season before you start making an impact. Be faithful with what God has placed in your hands. Let your character speak. Let your love be genuine. Let your faith be visible. Let your life point people towards Christ.

You are never too young to be an example, and you are never too old to make a difference. You can be the example. You can represent Christ. And through the life you live, someone else may discover what it means to follow Him.
Amen
