I AM THE FIRST AND THE LAST

Isaiah 44:6–7: “This is what the LORD, Israel’s King, says, their protector, the LORD who commands armies: ‘I am the first and I am the last, there is no God but me. Who is like me? Let him make his claim! Let him announce it and explain it to me—since I established an ancient people—let them announce future events!'”

Have you ever met anyone who could confidently declare that they were the first and the last? Is there any human being who existed before everything began and will continue to exist after everything has ended? Absolutely not! No human being, spiritual power or created being can make such a claim. Only God possesses this unique identity.

Even Satan cannot make such a declaration. He is a created being, not the Creator. He had a beginning, and his future destruction has already been established. He cannot control eternity or determine creation’s outcome. God alone is eternal, sovereign and without equal.

Beloved, this truth should change the way you face life’s challenges.

When God declares, “I am the First and the Last,” He is reminding us that He existed before our problems began and will remain when every earthly difficulty has passed. Nothing takes Him by surprise. No situation is beyond His understanding, and no power can overthrow His authority.

Think about what this means for your life. Your present difficulties may seem overwhelming, but they are not permanent. Financial struggles, disappointments, sickness, opposition, uncertainty and difficult seasons do not have the final word over your life. God has the final word!

The same God who was present at the beginning is present with you today and will remain with you tomorrow. You may not know what lies ahead, but you can trust the One who already knows the future. Your circumstances may change, people may disappoint you, and familiar sources of support may disappear, but God never changes.

This is why you should never build your confidence entirely on your abilities, possessions, connections or human support. These things have limitations. God does not. He is the source of your strength, wisdom, protection and provision. Depending on Him doesn’t mean you should stop taking responsibility for your life; it means allowing His wisdom to guide your decisions and His strength to sustain you.

So, ask yourself: Have I genuinely placed my life in God’s hands? Do I involve Him in my decisions, plans and daily activities, or do I only remember Him when difficulties arise?

Beloved, make God your confidence, not merely your last resort. Trust Him in the beginning, depend on Him throughout the journey, and remain confident in Him until the end.

Remember, the God who was there before your beginning will still be there at your ending. He is the First and the Last, the Almighty God, Yahweh, the great I AM. There is none like Him! All these are by God’s Amazing Grace: All Glory to God. Amen.
