(NKJV): “Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come! It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.”
(CEV): Jesus said to his disciples:
“There will always be something that causes people to sin. But anyone who causes them to sin is in for trouble. A person who causes even one of my little followers to sin would be better off thrown into the ocean with a heavy stone tied around their neck.”
Offence (eg; unforgiveness, bitterness, anger, negative thinking.) is a stumbling block, and offence hinders our walk with God, The devil is going try & offend you, but the Bible Says; ‘…don’t TAKE offence…’ If you really want to be champion, then you can’t afford to be offended: The spirit of offence will visit everybody but don’t give in to it. You may not be able to do anything about how you feel, but you can do something about how you act.
When you become offended then that gives satan access into your life. Stop giving the devil that foothold in your life. Anybody who is born-again, the devil has a plan against them so as to make them ineffective from mounting up any assault against his regime. Do not take any offence at; – people, high prices, government, giving in Church, etc: Offence just puts you off course. The offence will come, but do not take it.
God Has good things good for you but satan keeps baiting you through your offence, just to stop the good things God Has for you, so stop getting offended about what people are doing to you, etc The bait satan uses is OFFENCE. Don’t be a negative, selfish, miserable, and anxious person; Such people are easily offended, and they are easy bait for satan. Satan baits the bait in front of them & they keep getting trapped. Such people can’t get the good things God Has for them.
Here are some familiar Scriptures about ‘offence’
• Deut 28: 15++ when you refuse to walk in unconditional love (but you walk in bitterness, offence, etc), you open the door to the curse. Things won’t work if you are in offence & poverty becomes a major consequence. Don’t allow poverty & lack to affect your household. Poverty is not only not having money – it also includes things not working for you.
• Matt 18: 7 – (Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!) – Offence will get you out of God’s Love. Offence is a Blessing blocker.
Eph; 4: 2 (With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love) forbearing = put up with. Note that people are also putting up with us. We look at people through a magnifying glass, but you look at yourself through a crystal glass.
• 2 Cor 6: 3 – Don’t take any offence for anything – When you take offence it proves that you are in unforgiveness, it keeps The Word from manifesting in your life.
• 2 Tim 4: 16 – champions are not easily offended because they want to be used by God & don’t want to be offended.
Our text captures the very Words of our Lord Jesus Christ. He Discussed with His disciples, the important topic, ‘Offence’. We are being assured that in all our activities in life, offences are bound to come our way, but we are not supposed take them. If even the 12 closest disciples of Christ were to watch out lest they fall into offence, how much more you and I? As long as the skies continue to be above our heads, we will be tempted in life. It may come through being provoked to act out of anger, bitterness, unforgiveness, etc. It is important to note that we being ‘pressurized’ to sin does not justify us sinning. On judgement day, there will be no excuses. However, it is even more serious being the one through whom another person sins.
If God Uses the word ‘Woe’, it means He is Talking about a serious matter. On judgment day, there wouldn’t be preferential treatment for any gender or age range. We need to be careful in life. God is Revealing these things to us now because He Loves us and Wants to Warn us ahead of time. Let us not take Him for granted. Woe to the one who leads others to take offence; his/her punishment will be worse than having a giant stone tied to the neck and cast into the sea. It is high time we changed our ways. May God help us! The less offence we take the better & Happier our life is going to be, the more peace we are going to have, the more we are going to love people, and the less authority the devil is going to have in our life.
The Bible Says offence will come but we should not take it in. Learn how to recognize & deal with it. Do not take offense – you cannot grow spiritually if there is offence your heart. The Word of God Will Not Have Anointing on it if there’s phoniness (or you have bitterness, resentment, offence, etc in your heart). If there is no Anointing in WORD, it will not help anybody. Be ready and be prepared to forgive, when somebody offends you don’t take the offence.
You are going to have reason to be offended. Note the, when somebody offends you or makes you angry: it’s the devil trying to trap you, so bless them, speak good of them, don’t talk about the offence again, because love covers all offence.
Do not give offence either, so think a little before you say something to offend somebody. The less offence that we take, the happier we will be, & we shall also have a good life. We cannot grow up spiritually if we have offence, anger, bitterness, strive, and resentment etc in our heart; unless we let God Deal with those things. Don’t hold on onto offences and allow what offended you to change you.
Heavenly Father, thank You for this timely word. Please forgive me if my actions or inactions have by any means led people into to be offended. Please forgive me, and lead me on the path of Righteousness forever more.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
